A Good Cause

The Givens Group went out on Friday, September 13th, to the Players Club of Henderson for a charitable golf scramble to support finding the cure for childhood cancer.

 As you may know,

September is
"Childhood Cancer Awareness Month"!

In September of 2012,
a remarkable, world-wide
Thumbs Up Movement
began as a way to honor
Lane Goodwin
and the positive attitude
he maintained during his 2 1/2 year
battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma.
The movement brought global awareness
to childhood cancers
(the leading cause of death by disease
for children under the age of 15).
Approximately 36 children and adolescences
are diagnosed with cancer every day.
Yet, research for childhood cancers
remain underfunded.
Lane believed that the awareness
that the
Thumbs Up Movement
brought to childhood cancer
would lead to a cure.
remains committed
to fulfilling Lane's mission.

Keep Proud and Carry On!

(Terry Kellen)

This morning I sent Scott a text:
Did y'all give Terry a hero's welcome when he came in?

Scott responded:
Yes!  Then I told him to get to work, ha.

On Wednesday night we heard several emergency vehicles racing to the south end of town.  By news-time that night we knew there had been a very serious, one-car wreck just south of us in the county.  We also knew that a person had been pulled from a burning vehicle and life-flighted away from the scene.

What we didn't know was that one of our very own, Terry Kellen, was one of two heroes who stopped and pulled the critically injured driver from the burning wreckage.  In true Terry fashion, he never said a word.  It was not until late, last night when the Gleaner updated the report that we learned the name of the victim and one of his rescuers:

You can read the article, HERE.

We are so proud of you, Terry!
Now get to work!
